Where do I stand?
A primary candidate doesn’t gain political advantage by being specific about the issues. But voters deserve better.
Civil Liberties
Legislators must protect a woman’s right to choose and advance partnership rights for gays and lesbians.
- Choice. I believe government should not be in the business of regulating women’s bodies. I support the privacy doctrine that is the basis of Roe vs. Wade and I would oppose attempts in the Legislature to limit a woman’s right to choose.
- Equality. I support marriage equality. Same-sex couples deserve the same protections and benefits as other couples, including hospital visitation and end-of-life decision-making, inheritance, and state-tax benefits. The Oregon Legislature should pass non-discrimination policies that cover LGBT individuals and address employment, housing, education, and public services.
